Founded in 2014, Chicago-based ShipBob has been hailed as one of the most innovative and fastest growing technology companies for online market order fulfillment. As their success grows, so does ShipBob’s desire to pay it forward to others in need. When orders from their online merchants are returned, canceled, or abandoned in their warehouses, ShipBob is making a difference with these goods which would otherwise be discarded.Through their partnership with another local startup, GiveNKind, these unused goods are making an impact here in Chicago and beyond.

GiveNKind, also a Chicago-based startup, works to place new and gently used goods in the hands of nonprofit organizations free of cost. With an online hub connecting donors and nonprofits, and a receiving and sorting bank for in-kind goods located in Riverwoods, GiveNKind kicked off their partnership with Shipbob in October of 2018. Since the partnership began, GiveNKind has placed over $455,000 in goods from ShipBob vendors in nonprofit organizations. In the past month $390,000 in brand new sports apparel was donated to Chicago’s very own Social Works.  The clothing, sizes child to adult will be distributed by Social Works at an upcoming Taste for the Homeless event and food trucks that work to serve the homeless on the streets of Chicago. ShipBob vendor donation of over $10,000 of charging stations benefit Chicago’s Coalition for the Homeless, allowing homeless Chicagoans to receive job interview calls and make connections for help. ShipBob has packed and shipped these donations at no cost to the receiving nonprofits.

Nonprofits across the country such as New York’s Long Island Cares food bank and California’s Department of Children and Family Services have benefitted from these donations. ShipBob and GiveNKind look to continue to grow this successful and impactful partnership.
