giveNkind Impact

Who is GiveNkind?

GiveNkind is a Chicago-based nonprofit organization dedicated to re-imagining giving, maximizing the impact of a charitable gift for both donors and nonprofits. Through our website, registered nonprofits can post their in-kind, material wish lists. Donors can also post items they have to give, making the site searchable. GiveNkind also partners with nationwide logistics partners to help place surplus, abandon, and canceled goods in nonprofits across the country. Our 40+ nonprofit partners receive much needed items free of cost and give donors a meaningful way to repurpose their items to impact their community.  In December of 2018, GiveNkind opened their first in-kind donation and sorting facility, accepting nearly $20,000 in goods in just 3 weeks!

Stories of Impact

$390,000 of brand new sports apparel donated and delivered by ShipBob through giveNkind to Social Works, the nonprofit organization of Chance the Rapper. The items are to be given to the homeless during a special event in January called Taste for the Homeless, a day of fun and community for the often isolated homeless population. Items not distributed during this event will be part of the Social Works Taste for the Homeless food truck which drives to meet the homeless and provide essentials.

Hurricane Florence Relief Drive- Our first hurricane relief effort brought in requested, critically needed items to the Carolina Coast with 11 cases of goods shipped by logistics partner ShipBob to Baptists on Mission, coordinating on the ground relief efforts.

$20,000 in new jump ropes from ShipBob merchant Rapide were donated to many nonprofit partners including community programs such as Beacon Place, Roberti Community House, The Sports Shed, Girls in the Game, CPS after school sports programs, and more!

$7,000 in gently used in-kind goods in partnership with Gratitude Generation whose student service learning centered organization brought dozens of family members together to donate and sort the in-kind goods!

Toothbrushes were part of care packages that were distributed to homeless on Chicago's Lower Wacker Drive through One Hand One Heart.

Coffee maker was donated to veteran support organization Bodyworks for Vets can come together to share stories and heal over a cup of coffee.

Coats and bake ware were donated to Midwest Veterans Closet just in time for their big end of fall distribution event.  There were already veterans lined up waiting for hours waiting for their event to begin

In 3 weeks we filled two storage containers and accepted a truckload of $10,000 in goods from JoAnn’s. The ability to intake donations and sort them helps build our volunteer, donor, and advocacy base while giving nonprofits a reserve to shop for needed goods and replenish their supplies.
